THE FOX DEN

WHERE FORT COLLINS COMES TO PLAY

A FIELD WITH HISTORY

MORE THAN A CENTURY OF BASEBALL

Tucked into the western edge of historic City Park in Fort Collins, the City Park baseball field—affectionately known by many as "The Fox Den"—is one of Northern Colorado's most charming and community-rooted ballparks. The park itself dates back to 1907, when the city purchased more than 60 acres of farmland to create what would become one of Fort Collins' most treasured public spaces. Over the decades, City Park evolved into a hub for recreation, layered with history—from early playgrounds and community gathering spaces to memorial features and long-standing traditions. Baseball has long been woven into that fabric, reflecting the city's deep connection to the sport and its role in bringing together generations of players and fans.

The field itself sits within this broader park ecosystem of trees, open space, and neighborhood charm, giving it a distinctly classic, small-town baseball feel. Unlike modern stadiums, City Park Field embraces simplicity—bleachers, a modest press box, and close proximity between fans and players create an intimate atmosphere where every pitch feels personal. That energy has translated directly onto the field, as the Fort Collins Foxes have turned the venue into one of the toughest places to play in summer collegiate baseball. In 2025, the Foxes went an incredible 20–2 at The Fox Den, feeding off the home crowd and reinforcing the field's reputation as a true home-field advantage.

Today, City Park Field stands as a blend of past and present—a place where more than a century of Fort Collins history meets the energy of summer baseball nights. With the backdrop of mature trees, mountain views, and a park that has served generations of residents, it remains a uniquely authentic venue. Whether hosting youth games decades ago or showcasing elite collegiate talent with the Foxes today, the field continues to embody what makes baseball special: community, continuity, and the timeless rhythm of the game played on familiar ground.
