Chaz Lopez

Assistant Coach

Chaz Lopez is a young baseball coach with a true fire and love for the game. Although he has only been coaching for the last 2 ½ years he has been helping Adams State turn the corner in their rebuild, along with help the Denver Cougars make it to the NBC World Series in the Summer of 2023. With his master’s degree in professional communication and his focus on building true relationships with his players, Chaz aims at all times to create not only great baseball players but great men through his coaching process. Chaz’s coaching philosophy is built around the idea of building two-way relationships with his players. Earning their respect first on the field but also off the field and in life. Chaz loves to hunt, explore the outdoors, hot spring, play video games, and he religiously watches his two favorite MLB teams the Seattle Mariners and St. Louis Cardinals. His love for communication helps him make a true difference in everything he does, whether it is coaching at Adams State or working his second job as a barista at Starbucks.

Matthew Mitchell

Assistant Coach

My name is Matthew Mitchell. I am in my first season as an assistant coach at Scottsdale Community College in Arizona where I work with our outfielders and hitters. I spent the previous 4 years as a student manager for the baseball team at Grand Canyon University where I graduated from in April of 2023. I spent the last two summers as the head coach of a team in the Arizona Collegiate Wood Bat league. I also have spent a summer working in the Northwoods baseball league in 2021. I am passionate about helping players reach their full potential and have always loved baseball. Outside of baseball I am a huge hockey fan. I enjoy spending time outdoors and fishing. My experience and connections help me relate to players in a unique way that brings out the best in their game.
